It was always acting which intrigued Cristian Alexanda, until school mates heard him sing in class and vehemently persuaded him to pursue music – his other ambition. Torn between his love of rap and soul, he decided to pursue the genre of which, the likes of Stevie Wonder and D'Angelo had inspired him. "One time I was just singing in class and my friends and teachers just said, 'look, you can sing so why don't you try performing.'
So I gave it a shot and discovered that I really liked it. That's how it all started out. Music just gave me more joy than acting."
From his grass roots of Australia, Cristian used his cultural background in defining a style that he could mould into what was then and now. And so he took heed of what his classmates said and began singing at various school functions and charity events around his hometown, Perth, Australia. From here, he formed his first band 'Playtime'. Joining him was local writer and producer, Audius, who recently wrote and produced Selwyn's album, 'Meant To Be'. This lasted two years and the desire to succeed as a solo artist took charge. Cristian hence signed with Legit Music and his first solo demo album is currently in production.
The inspiring nature and determination of Cristian is driven by his belief that what you give is what you get. Producing for others is certainly on the cards for this 20 year old, and helping others find and follow their goals in music will one day be his greatest achievement yet. In doing so, he aims to simultaneously perfect his craft and become apart of Illusive / Legit Music in discovering new talent and bringing them to their fore.
Outside the sound studio, he doesn't stray too far from his love of music, because his love of basketball marries the two. With the game comes the sporting culture and in that arena, R&B, Hip Hop and Rap are defining genres. In March 2003, Cristian was voted artist of the month on the influential UK R&B site www.vibinmusic.co.uk. In May, saw Cristian, doing serval performances in Asia then moving over to the UK to work with Ignorants and Blacksmith to finish his debut album.
Cristian has already supported 50 Cent & Obie Trice in the, "No Fear, No Mercy" Australian Tour as well as being named the support act for Sean Paul's "Dutty Rock" Australian and Indonesian Tour and the big one singing alongside pop icon "Justin Timberlake" at his 2004 Justified Australian dates leaving the crowd screaming for more with his mind blowing opening sets in front of more than 45,000 people nationally.
