"We were devoted to the live experience...once clad, individual ego all but devoured, there remained this "thing" called Split Enz...and, as with the pantomime horse, our minds and muscles fed its awkward movements, from pathos to bathos and beyond...each song eagerly anticipated as we lost ourselves in the music...one hour before showtime we would begin the transformation...ready to play,we exulted in the pleasure of it all...I remember a chic young Frenchwoman casting an appraising eye over us backstage one night in Paris as we waited to go on, and murmuring "pas mal"...even now people talk with shining eyes of gigs from 1975 as if they had happened yesterday...I love that about great live performance...it stays with you, perhaps more acutely than the experience of recorded song...you had to see Split Enz live to really get it...in a way I'm glad our earliest shows were barely captured on film or tape...they live on most strongly in the hearts and minds of those who were there. But I'm glad too that these later recordings exist, and that Eddie had the vision to dust them off...here's a taste, a glimmer, a memento of the always extravagant Enz..."

Split Enz were inducted into the ARIA Icons Hall of Fame in July 2005.
