Liam Finn says that his new EP, 'Champagne in Seashells', is a 'document of a small moment in time'. He's modestly referring to the insanely busy two years since the release of his critically acclaimed debut album 'I'll Be Lightning', and the nearly uninterrupted schedule of touring that has taken him around the world multiple times.
Having played his own sold out shows on every continent, opened for The Black Keys and Eddie Vedder, and performed at All Tomorrow's Parties, Liam is set to release this new EP worldwide this September.
Recorded in April in Auckland, 'Champagne' is bigger and bolder than its predecessor, revealing new lyrical complexities and pointing in daring new music directions. It also marks the debut studio collaboration between Liam and live cohort Eliza Jane. The self produced EP was mixed by legendary sonic wizard Tchad Blake (Gomez, Pearl Jam).
Ironically this EP will take Liam & EJ back on the road, playing these songs on a world tour that includes an Australian headline run in September & a return trip to support Pearl Jam on massive stadium dates in November.
Lead single 'Long Way to Go' encapsulates the magical dynamic of Liam & EJ's chaotic live show whilst tackling the anxieties of air travel, life on the road and homesickness. It recently debuted at the # 1 spot on Triple J's playlist and been one of the station's Top 10 most played songs over the past month.
