Troy Cassar-Daley

Long Way Home

Product 397 Cover

Although he's the owner of several Golden Guitars and a couple of ARIAs, it was Troy's songwriting skills and musicianship that bought him to the attention of Nash Chambers, the man at the controls for his sister Kasey's two solo albums. A lot has changed since Troy's last album, 1999's 'Big River'.

He's moved away from the majors - this is his first LP for Essence Records, Nash Chambers' label - and with this newfound independence comes real musical freedom. In commenting about the deal Troy said "Working with Nash came at the right time for me. I've known him for a lot of years and he comes from the right stock to produce music with integrity and heart. So the opportunity to also sign a record deal with him was a real bonus as it meant that for the first time I have some real input into the process.

I wanted to make a record that was true to me and I think we achieved that," Troy said. "As you expect, there are bluegrass and honkytonk elements on there and I hope, a few surprises as well." Long Way Home is also a chance for Troy to show off his multi-instrumentalist skills. Besides blasting away on a didgeridoo, he contributes acoustic and electric guitar and harmonica. He also picks the National Steel Guitar.
